In this you don't exactly add and accept friends, you 'watch' them. To watch someone (which you will then recieve their recent journals and pictures) you go to the top of their profile and it says something like 'watch deviant' or somet. And your watchers are at the bottom where it says 'recent watchers':].

Now to make a profile picture. Go on submit deviantation like usual. and go on deviantart related then User ID, and then upload your picture then submit. Then go on edit profile, user page display, and where it says deviant ID, click on yours then ok :] and it should come up.
